If you want to be eligible for admissions scholarships, make certain that you:

Apply for admission completely by January 15th. Although a separate application is not required, a complete application must include all necessary information, such as the application fee or a fee waiver, official SAT or ACT scores, official high school transcripts, and any other required documents. Check the admissions checklist, log into my.usf.edu, choose OASIS, and make sure your application is complete.

Check my.usf.edu to review your residency classification. Please send an updated residency declaration by January 15 if necessary. Make sure you are classified correctly because many scholarships are only available to Floridians.

Deadline for the University of South Florida USF Scholarships

The deadline for the international freshman scholarship is January 15

The deadline for the international transfer scholarship is March 1st

Awarding Timeline

You will receive a written notification via mail, either as part of your admission acceptance letter or a separate scholarship offer letter, if you are chosen for an admissions scholarship. The notification period runs from October to February.

Test results and transcripts that are received within the deadline for awarding will be taken into account. Even after being accepted, you might still qualify for an upgraded scholarship offer or an admissions scholarship based on higher test scores. You should send updated information as soon as possible because scholarship funds are restricted. Test results or grades from the senior year that were submitted after the deadline for awards will not be taken into account.

Note that December ACT/SAT test results are the last to be taken into account when awarding scholarships. Senior-year grades won’t be taken into account.

Scholarship Reward

Freshmen

These prizes cannot be bundled. The highest award for which a student is eligible will be given to them during the awarding period. The exact award amounts vary depending on the number of credits a student enrols in each term; however, all Green & Gold awards are credited as a partial out-of-state tuition waiver. Scholarships for non-resident students will be given in the form of waivers.

As long as it does not exceed the non-resident fee amount and is not covered by any other resources, the USF non-resident waiver award will pay up to the full amount offered by The Office of Admissions. The maximum waiver that a student may be eligible to receive per semester can be found in the award notification that they received from The Office of Admissions. The waiver does not cover other fees or resident tuition.

FAQ

Q. If I do not meet the criteria for a scholarship when I apply to USF, can I be considered if I submit new information?

A. From October to February, students are automatically considered for scholarships. Standardized tests (SAT/ACT) taken in December or earlier and submitted by the deadline are taken into account when awarding scholarships. Students cannot receive scholarships from the Office of Admissions after enrolling at USF, and later exams and grades from their senior year will not be taken into consideration.

Q. What do I need to do to be considered for a scholarship?

A. Submit a full application for admission by January 15. Scholarships are given based on the availability of funds.

Is there anything else you need to apply for a scholarship, like an essay or letters of recommendation?

A. A complete admissions application, which includes an application fee or fee waiver, official SAT or ACT scores, official high school transcripts, and any other required documents, is usually all that is needed to be considered for the majority of scholarships offered by the Office of Admissions. There is no requirement for essays or recommendation letters. The Ventures Scholarship and the Tradition of Excellence Scholarship, however, do call for additional proof. Please view the requirements for these awards on the Awarding page.

Q. What can my scholarship be used for?

A. Scholarships from the Office of Admissions, with the exception of Green & Gold Awards, are credited directly to student accounts at the start of each term and will be used to reduce tuition and other fees (e.g. housing, meal plan, etc.). Any money that is left over after all fees have been paid will be given back to the student. Green & Gold Awards only apply to specific charges on a student’s account and are credited to their accounts as partial tuition waivers.
