Alabama out-of-state scholarship is critical to assisting Alabama students in making the most of their lives. When applying for scholarships, you should evaluate the many scholarship categories. Alabama merit scholarships are based on grades or community service and are given to students who are the most deserving. An Alabama academic scholarship takes your GPA into account, but it may also take into account the difficulty of your classes (including AP classes) and any noteworthy individual projects you have performed.
Depending on their chosen admission path, all high school graduates from outside Alabama who have been admitted as first-time freshmen by the priority due date will be given consideration for one of the freshman admission scholarship programs. Students who receive one of the following scholarships are eligible for in-state tuition status for the duration of their scholarship award.
1. University of South Alabama Freshman Admission Scholarship-Talent and Ability
Incoming first-time freshmen will immediately be considered for the Freshman Admission prizes after being accepted to the University of South Alabama. Qualified students’ JagMail accounts will get an email announcing their scholarship award.
Every out-of-state student who is granted an admission scholarship for academic distinction at the time of acceptance receives in-state tuition from the University of South Alabama.
Freshman Admission Scholarship recipients may apply for a scholarship increase by submitting updated transcripts and improved test results. The reevaluation periods shall be in the early months of December, February, and April, provided that funds are still available.
Americans Accepting Freshmen Scholarships are given throughout four years or up till the completion of a first bachelor’s degree (if prior to four years). The summer term is not a time to use institutional aid. The scholarship and tuition waiver must be renewed each academic year if the requirements are met.
Scholarships for the University of South Alabama Freshman Admission will be automatically considered for students who are accepted as first-time freshmen, are 22 years of age or younger, and have not attended another college or university since completing high school.
The priority deadline for this out-of-state scholarship for the fall of 2024 is February 2024.

- Be a citizen of the United States, have applied for or received permanent residence, or be a student enrolled in an accredited high school in the United States;
- being a first-time freshman entering;
- possess a high school GPA of at least 3.0 and an ACT super score of at least 21. (or SAT equivalent)

2. The University of South Alabama Freshman Jaguar Achievement Scholarship-Talent and Ability
A scholarship for freshman entry achievement may also be available to students who select the test-optional admissions track. Test-optional students will get scholarships based on their academic performance, grades, and a number of other considerations.
February 15, 2024, is the priority deadline for the fall of 2024.
Candidates for spring 2024, summer 2024, and fall 2024 admission to the University of South Alabama will have a test-optional pathway available.
Students must submit an application through the test-optional admissions process to be considered. All test-optional admission candidates whose applications and supporting materials are received by the priority deadline date will be taken into consideration.
Students with an ACT score of at least 21 and/or an SAT score of at least 1060 are advised to submit their scores to ensure that they are eligible for scholarships.

Every out-of-state student who is granted an admission scholarship for academic distinction at the time of acceptance receives in-state tuition from the University of South Alabama. Scholarship awards have annual values between $2,000 and $9,000 on average.

Students in their undergraduate and graduate years may submit applications. Until the student’s field of study changes or they are no longer enrolled full-time, the waiver will be equal to 100% of the non-resident tuition reduction.

A student who is chosen as a Presidential Elite Scholar and has a GPA of 4.0 or more, a 36 on the ACT, or 1600 on the SAT, will also get the following benefits: Value of tuition for up to four years, or eight semesters, for degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate, or legal studies.
