Romania Scholarship for non-European Citizens

The annual Romanian scholarship program is currently open for the 2022 academic year. This scholarship is funded by the Romanian government through the ministry of foreign affairs. The duration for the scholarship is 3-6 years for undergraduates, 1.5 – 2 years for master and 3 – 4 years for doctorate and covers a wide range of academic disciplines.

This scholarship is open to all disciplines except medicine and pharmacy. English option is only available for PhD candidates. Other scholars have only Romanian language availed to them. This is so to promote the Romanian culture.

The good news is that if o do not understand Romanian there is a preparatory year for you. This prep is to prepare you for the Romanian language. CV, passport, diploma, transcript and birth certificate are required.

ELIGIBILITY

Foreign citizens from non-EU countries except

  1. Citizens that have applied or gotten a form of protection from Romania
  2. Romanian indigenes from the Romanian historical communities within Romania
  3. Stateless persons in Romania are also qualified
  4. Members and relatives of diplomatic and consular corps under Romania authority
  5. Members of staff of international organisations based in Romania and relatives are qualified
  6. Administrative and technical staff of diplomatic missions and consular offices within Romania authority.
  7. Beneficiaries of scholarships within Romania state for the same study are also qualified.

To be qualified you must

  1. Apply before deadline
  2. Provide documents issued by the accredited educational institutions in the country where issued
  3. have good results, an average of the study years, for the last graduated school of at least 7 (seven) according to Romania scoring system or the “Good” score, as the case may be
  4. Submit a complete file
  5. Be in line with application methodology.

DURATION AND REWARD

This is a fully-funded scholarship by the Romanian government for all international students. Free accommodation is provided for qualified persons with monthly stipends. 65 EURO/Month, for Undergraduate Students. 75 EURO/Month, for Master Studies. 85 EURO/Month, for Postgraduate Students (Doctorate Degree).

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Each candidate will create an account on the Study in Romania platform, will fill in the requested data and upload the following documents:

3.1. Copies of the diplomas obtained (baccalaureate diploma or its equivalent, plus bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate, if applicable) and their authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.

3.2. Copies of transcripts of the completed studies and their authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.

3.3. Copy of the birth certificate (or an equivalent document) and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.

  • Copy of the first three pages of the passport or the national document of identity and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
  • Curriculum Vitae in English or French in the required format, and for the doctoral cycle also a letter of intent from the applicant in English, French, Spanish or Romanian.
  • The application will also include the following documents (only for candidates who belong to the specific category mentioned for each document):
    •  Copy of the proof of name change (if applicable) and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
    • Copy of the certificate proving the passing of the baccalaureate, bachelor’s or master’s exam, as the case may be, for graduates who do not hold yet the diploma and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
    • Copy of the certificate proving that the person in the final year of studies is to take the graduation exam at the end of the school/university year and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
    • Copy of the transcript attesting the academic record of the person in the final year of studies, until the moment of submitting the application file, and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.
    • Copy of the certificate of completion of the Romanian language preparatory year or the certificate of linguistic competence, if applicable.
    • Copy of the notarized declaration of parental consent in the case of candidates who have not reached the age of 18 by the date of commencement of the courses and the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish or Romanian, if applicable.

The documents must be scanned individually, after the original, in .pdf format.

APPLICATION METHODOLOGY

The scholarship application is received only via the study in Romania portal here. Application is open until 15th March 2022, qualified scholars will be announced on 22nd July 2022 and a visa is required from selected scholars.
