The University of California GloCal Health Fellowship is open for application from students and researchers from underdeveloped nations. The GloCal Health Fellowship provides career development activities, tools, and specialized individual support with the goal of assisting trainees in moving on to the next phase of their careers.
The fellowship is a one-year post-residency training opportunity that focuses on advancing skills and expertise in dealing with marginalized populations both domestically and internationally in situations with limited resources.
Candidates that are chosen will propose studies in the basic sciences, nutrition, environment, public health, nursing, social and behavioral sciences, and medicine.
A superb interdisciplinary education and training in cutting-edge research designed to enhance health for populations all over the world are provided to aspiring global health researchers through the GloCal Health Fellowship.
The 12-month GloCal Health Fellowship program provides support and mentoring to researchers who are interested in examining illnesses and conditions in developing nations. The four main parts of the GloCal Health Fellowship Training Program are as follows:
- Design of Research Project: A 12-month, on-the-ground research project conducted in collaboration with one of our 21 reputable, global cooperating partners
- Mentorship: A robust, multidisciplinary research experience under the guidance of a mentor
- Global Health Education: Online or in-person courses that provide instruction in global health and associated subjects;
- Career Development: Career development is essential to ensuring that fellows reach their immediate professional objectives and advance to the next stage of their careers.
Level/Field of Study
The fellowship is intended for foreign postdoctoral fellows from connected international sites in low- and middle-income countries, as well as US doctorate students (Ph.D., DrPH, etc.), professional students (MD, DDS, DVM, PharmD, etc.), and postdoctoral fellows (LMICs).

Criteria for University of California GloCal Health Fellowship for Developing Countries
You must: in order to be given consideration for the GloCal Health Fellowship.
- come from a nation that qualifies
- to be an American citizen or resident
- possess a certificate in basic science and have completed a year of clinical training
- have expressed commitment to a career in global health research and have shown interest in doing so.
- If you are from a UC college, find a mentor from one of the four consortium campuses.

Scholarship Duration and Reward
