Through the use of a common platform for scholarship applications, a pool-and-match method of managing scholarships is used to help balance donor preferences and legal requirements regarding scholarships.

Most award recipients are chosen by UH based on impartial factors like merit and financial need. In the rare instances where funding was provided to UH with specific requirements (like gender), the organization will abide by those requirements to the fullest extent permitted by law.

By using a standardized application process, UH makes sure that recipients are not given an advantage or disadvantage based on their race, color, national origin, ethnicity, or gender when scholarships are awarded.
