The Curator’s Grant-in-Aid Scholarship was established in the early 1950s exclusively for international students. Since its founding, hundreds of international undergraduate and graduate students with good academic status and financial needs have been assisted in successfully completing their programs of study.
The Curator’s Grant-in-Aid Scholarship is only for international undergraduate and graduate students. The grant is awarded for a single semester based on a review of academic merit, financial need, length at MU, and on-campus employment and student activities.

Review Process
The GIA Scholarship program is run by International Student and Scholar Services, which is also in charge of collecting, reviewing, and deciding which applicants will get awards. The office then communicates its suggestions for student awards to Cashiers and Student Financial Aid.
The ISSS staff reviews all applications and evaluates them in accordance with the eligibility requirements and the following criteria:
- academic excellence. Academic strength must be demonstrated by your cumulative GPA and faculty/adviser recommendations.
- Financial need. Applications with evidence of unforeseen or unexpected financial situations that could have a major negative impact on their academic progress are given priority.
- Longevity. ISSS will take into account how long you have attended MU and how much time you have left to finish your degree program. You should pinpoint the financial aid and employment sources that have contributed to your educational program. Your participation in school and community activities is taken into account as well.
Your scholarship application status will be communicated to you by the start of the semester for which you are applying. Your MU email address will receive award notifications. The award will be void if you don’t confirm it by the deadline specified in the announcement. Awards were given out in varying numbers each year. As there are frequently more candidates than there is funding for, you are advised to look for alternative sources of support.
The Office of Student Financial Aid and Cashiers Office will credit your student account with any confirmed awards (scholarships and tuition exemptions). Graduate courses only required for degree completion qualify for tuition waivers. Additionally, all nonresident tuition waivers for the course hours in which you are enrolled must be posted by the Graduate School.
Scholarship Reward
Undergraduate prizes cover up to $2,000 in tuition for one semester, but depending on the funds available and the number of qualified applicants, they frequently continue over from year to year. Graduate grants exempt you from paying tuition for up to nine credit hours of mandatory coursework as well as all nonresident fees for the whole semester’s worth of credit hours. These prizes must be applied for each semester and are not automatically renewed. There are no Curator’s Grant-in-Aid Scholarships offered for the summer session.
FAQ
A+ support is available to qualifying students enrolled in at least 12 credits per semester at both institutions during the fall and spring semesters. To use A+ funds over the summer, students must enrol in at least 6 hours at MACC.
