Eligibility for the University of Alabama Presidential Scholarship
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must:
- be an international student.
- Have a GPA of at least 4.0
- an English proficiency score of either 1600 on the SAT or 36 on the ACT

For the spring semester, applications and all supporting materials should be submitted by November 1; for the fall and summer semesters, applications and all supporting materials should be submitted by January 15.
You will be given consideration for prestigious scholarships offered by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions & Scholarships, the National Alumni Association, academic colleges, and all departments on campus if you enrol in the fall or summer semester as a main campus student and meet the January 15 deadline. Instructions to complete the Freshman Supplemental Scholarship Application will be emailed to all fall and summer semester admits who meet the January 15 deadline.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions & Scholarships will consider you for competitive scholarships if you enrol in the spring semester as the main campus student and meet the deadline of November 1.
All applicants who met the deadline for submitting their applications and all required documentation are evaluated comprehensive and integrated according to the educational and extracurricular data they included on their admission application. Academic honours and high school GPA are taken into consideration. Leadership experience, volunteer work, extracurricular activities, employment, and non-academic honours are examples of non-academic items.

Scholarship Award
- Cost of tuition for studies leading to a degree for undergraduate, graduate, or law students for up to four years or eight semesters
- housing on campus for the first year at standard room rates (based on assignment by Housing and Residential Communities)
- Four-year, a supplemental scholarship worth $1,000 per year.
- a one-time payment of $2,000 to be used for summer research or international study (after completing one year of study at UA)
