- The applicants must be new or continuing undergraduate students at UH Manoa who have or will attain F1 or J1 visa status during the scholarship year.
To be considered, new transfer/freshmen must submit an entrance application to UHM. Second bachelor’s degree applicants and non-degree students (for example, exchange students from other schools) are ineligible.

Application Process for the University of Hawaii at Manoa International Undergraduate Student Scholarship (IUSS)
There is no need for new students to apply for scholarships separately. The applicants’ admission applications will be automatically considered. Priority will be given to earlier applications. Visit the admissions portal to apply for admission.
Even though you are in your first semester at UH Manoa, you are considered a continuing student. Fill out the IUSS online application form.
To use the application, you must have a UH email account. You will be unable to access the application if you are presently connected to a personal Gmail account and will receive an error message. In that case, log out of your personal Gmail account and return to the link, where you should see a login for your University of Hawaii account.
The award winners will be notified by April 1.
Scholarship Reward
- $10,000 each academic year ($5,000 per semester, autumn and spring), renewable if eligibility is maintained.
- Only applied to UH Manoa tuition and fees
- Cannot be used for courses at other UH campuses or UHM Extension.
- May not be combined with the Admissions Office’s International Merit Award Scholarship (IMAS) and Mnoa International Excellence Scholarship (MIES).
